'I can't express how amazing I have found this course. Yes, it has been hard and has been a lot of work (that's part of the fun) but how this course it organised and set up is so well thought out. I have kept telling myself throughout this course 'to just trust in the process'. Now that I am here at the end, I know I was right to trust the process. I can't express how much I have learnt this year and how much more confident I feel in myself personally and within that professional classroom environment, and how prepared I feel to step into my own classroom.' Sarah Chrisp (2023 Graduate)

Selection Procedure

All interviews for North Tyneside SCITT will be held in our partnership schools, this gives applicants the opportunity to find out about our programme first hand from head teachers, expert mentors and trainees in schools. Candidates will be required to undertake a variety of tasks during the day such as:

  • Observation task working with a small group of children
  • English task
  • Maths task
  • Formal interview

School staff and SCITT tutors are members of the interviewing panel. Further information regarding the roll out of the interview day and tasks to be completed will be detailed within correspondence prior to the interview.

Whilst ensuring that we can provide the conditions and training required, you must be prepared to demonstrate a strong potential to train as a primary teacher and your suitability for an offer of a place. The SCITT has thorough and rigorous selection procedures to ensure that the strongest applicants are offered places on the programme.

Interview results are communicated as soon as possible after the interview takes place but any offer of acceptance of a place is conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory references, medical report and police clearance.
