The North Tyneside SCITT programme offers a school-based route which provides a practical introduction to teaching and a professional qualification to teach primary children aged 3-11 years

This highly distinctive course has been developed in response to changing priorities in the field of primary education over recent years.

The North Tyneside SCITT programme will equip you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to become an effective primary school teacher.

Where are we?

The taught programme will be delivered mainly at the Langdale Centre, Wallsend. The Langdale Centre is a bespoke training and development centre and is located just of the A1058 Coast Road, near to the Silverlink Retail Park. The Langdale Centre is also the base for consultants and inspectors of the North Tyneside Early Years and Primary School Service.

As many of these consultants lecture on the course it means trainees receive the most up-to-date research and training that is currently being delivered in schools. These consultants along with the Programme Manager are centre based so are always on hand to offer support and guidance to trainees when needed.

Facilities

The centre has a training room, free printing and Wi-Fi, a common room, including a kitchen, which is solely for the use of trainees and can be used as a breakout / relaxation area, a high quality restaurant and free parking.

North Tyneside SCITT trainees have access to Northumbria University's Coach Lane Campus facilities nearby. Coach Lane Campus is four miles from the Langdale Centre and has a large library offering an on-line research facility and loans access.
